Boat Fire

When Chris and I were first dating he lived on a boat near the Fremont Bridge on Lake Union. After we were together about 6 months his cat Ares burnt the boat down and Chris and Ares moved in with Percival and I. This is how my parents found out my boyfriend and I were going to live together.

She's Coming!

Back in January I sent this out into cyberspace hoping that it would provoke my friend Roberta to come for a visit. Finally! 6 months later, she's coming to visit. Yay! Berta Schmerta will be spending the 4th of July with Chris and I in Seattle! We're going to introduce her to Manny's, show her the fireworks, perhaps take her to Lake Chelan, and maybe see The Paperboys!! Oh, and we might make her work on our path (just kidding Roberta). I'm so excited, see you soon!

Coolest Thing I've Seen All Week

Just now, walking back to work from the gym, I passed a guy on a scooter. He had a dachshund with him. The dog had a harness on and was attached to the guys chest. He was standing on the front of the scooter seat with is front paws on the steering column. He had on a red vest with what looked to be a sheriffs badge and a cowboy hat (the dog, not the driver). As they drove by the dog was just a yapping away.

My day is much brighter now!

Midland

Joe posted his results to this quiz so I thought I'd take it too. Apparently I speak like I'm from "Midland".......

What American accent do you have? (Best version so far)

Midland

("Midland" is not necessarily the same thing as "Midwest") The default, lowest-common-denominator American accent that newscasters try to imitate. Since it's a neutral accent, just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from the Midland.

Water Taxi

I've been riding the water taxi a bit lately. I happened to have my camera with me on one ride.

Captain Joe skippering the mighty Sightseer! We had a fun cruise over with all of the Tug Boat and Ferry waves we encountered.

The One We Call "Big Kitty"

Slacking Blogger

Wow, it has been a whole week since my last entry. Where have I been??

Brief Rundown:
1. Last week was our annual Customer Forum at work.
2. Tuesday & Thursday nights - cocktail parties
3. Wednesday night at Teatro ZinZanni - so fun
4. Friday Night out in West Seattle
5. Saturday Morning - Hottie Walk - 10 miles!
6. Sunday - cleaned the house. Top to bottom. Bottom to top. Crashed from exhaustion.

What I learned:
1. Cleaning the house makes me more tired that walking 10 miles.
2. Giving a 20+ lb cat a bath takes lots of time - and towels.
3. 10 mile walk alone takes 2.5 hours. 10 mile walk with 20 other folks takes 3.5 hours.
4. West Seattle doesn't have much "night life", but almost all places have Manny's on tap!
5. Teatro ZinZanni is a blast!

3 in 30

Today I completed a goal. A while back I started jogging every few days on the treadmill at the gym instead of Elliptical or walking. Now, I'm a good walker, at least I think I am, but I am NOT a good jogger. I've always hated jogging, probably because of all the problems I've had with my feet, but recently I've been giving it a go again. I'm not fast, and it sure isn't pretty, but when I get done jogging I feel good about myself. So, I set a goal. I wanted to be able to jog 3 miles in 30 minutes. And for a long time I could run 3 miles in 34 minutes. Then I got to 33 minutes. Then back to 34....you get the picture. I'm old and slow and I couldn't get to 30 minutes. But today, today I got on the treadmill and I said "today is going to be the day" and I did it. I watched "The Hulk" and I ran 3 miles in exactly 30 minutes. Now I'm tired and I feel a bit dehydrated. But I'm proud of myself, so there.

Dining Review - Circa

Saturday night Chris and I ventured out in West Seattle to try a restaurant we hadn't tried yet. After much deliberation we decided on Circa located near the Admiral Junction. We had tried to go there once before but the wait was going to be at least an hour. This time we planned ahead and got there at around 5:30 - before the dinner rush started.

First off, they have Manny's on tap so major points there. We were surprised by their beer list. Most of the beers were IPAs or really hoppy Pales Ales. No Ambers or ESBs to be seen. Apparently they had also just redone their wine list, since they had Manny's I didn't even look twice at it.

Service was excellent. We were promptly seated and waited upon. Atmosphere was ok. I'm not sure the Feng Shui of the place is correct. Something just felt a bit off. But we were treated to a window seat.

The food. Standard Seattle Bar/Pub type fare. I had the Circa Burger and Chris had the Fish and Chips. Both were tasty, but nothing overly outstanding. Still, I'd go back for sure. All in all - 4 stars!

Mariners Baseball

Last Friday my company hosted us employees at the Mariners game where the Mariners lost. Of course they lost. I was at the game. That is what they do when I'm there. On the way to the game from our office we did a pub crawl. First we hit Fado, next the J&M and finally the Elysian Fields. Here are some photos:

It Is Getting Intense

The walking is stepping up a notch. Even though I took last Monday off for Memorial Day and only logged about 4,000 steps that day I still managed to walk 121,753 steps last week. That includes a 9 mile walk with the Hotties on Saturday morning. It was the most beautiful walk - from Green Lake to Ballard's Sunset Park and back. Good times.

14 weeks to go!

1,000,000 Steps!

Yesterday evening, somewhere on the waterfront I hit 1,000,000 steps. That is the number of steps I have tracked on my pedometer since my 3day training began on March 26th, 2007. 91/2 weeks of training. 250 intentional miles walked. And, 1,000,000 steps! That is an average of about 15,000 steps a day! That also includes 3 days where I either just didn't wear my pedometer or I forgot to write down the steps before they were erased. With 14 1/2 weeks to go until the big walk I should be able to get somewhere near 2,750,000 steps! I'll keep ya posted - don't worry.
