2 More Days Until The 3 day!

I will get up early for...3 days.
I will go to bed exhausted and exhilarated...for 3 days.
I will walk 20 miles a day for...3 days.
I will shower in a truck for...3 days.
I will eat in a tent for...3 days.
I will sleep in a tent for...3 days.
I will use porta-potties...for 3 days.
I will wear my deeley-boppers...for 3 days.
I will be surrounded by friends and family...for 3 days.
I will be cheered through crosswalks...for 3 days.
I will be honked at...for 3 days.
I will eat peanut-butter/jelly graham crackers...for 3 days.
I will sing our cadence loud and clear...for 3 days.
I will create memories...for 3 days.
I will remember those we've lost...for 3 days.
I will remember why I walk...for 3 days.

2 Years of Bliss

Today is our second anniversary! Two years ago today we were married on the banks of the Wenatchee River surrounded by our friends and family. It is amazing to me that two years have already flown by, but I'm looking forward to the many more we have ahead of us!

2008 Seattle Warming Hut Hotties Walkluck Picnic

On Saturday the 2008 Seattle Warming Hut Hotties (who will be walking in the Breast Cancer 3day next weekend!) held their annual Walkluck Picnic at Lincoln Park in West Seattle. We had a blast. Wonderful food, friends, training stories, laughs and tears. We ended it with a short program to honor some special members of our team. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the event. The Route Is Announced

The 2008 Seattle Breast Cancer 3day route has been announced. Here is where I will be walking Friday - Sunday next weekend. Don't forget to come out and cheer us on if you're in the area. The designated cheering stations are listed here. I can't believe it is only 4 days away!!!

The Route
The route is well marked with arrows and instructional signage; simply follow the signs and the walkers in front of you! Here's a general description of what you will experience along the way:

After leaving the Opening Ceremony at Bellevue Community College on Friday, you will head north through the beautiful city of Bellevue. There will be plenty of shade as you walk downhill along the Lake Hills Connector. The route will pass through several lovely neighborhoods before heading into downtown Bellevue for lunch. The last few miles will take you into Redmond, through the Microsoft campus and on the Sammamish River Trail before heading into camp.

On Saturday, you will pass through the two great cities of Redmond and Kirkland. Then head north on the Sammamish River trail and then east into Kirkland. A beautiful lunch stop on the water is sure to make for a great photo op. The route will turn south through Kirkland into its quaint downtown and continue along the waterfront. On the way back to camp, you will pass through the tree-shaded Bridle trails area. The final stretch will go back into Redmond along the trail into camp.

After a short bus ride over Lake Washington on Sunday morning, you'll find yourself in Seattle near the beautiful University of Washington Arboretum. The day starts on a very shaded trail and travels over to the University. After a short walk through the gorgeous campus grounds, you will head west towards Green Lake. A brief walk around the lake travels close to the Woodland Park Zoo and down into the cute town of Wallingford. Heading south towards Lake Union, you will enjoy another beautiful lunch stop. You will then pass through the funky Fremont area before heading south into downtown. The final leg of the route travels through the heart of downtown, past the famous Pike Place Market and along the waterfront before heading through the Sculpture Garden and over to the Closing Ceremony at the Seattle Center.

Oliver

Angie and Brandon's cat Oliver joined us at the cabin last weekend. They claim that at home he is a terror of a cat, but I don't believe them. At the cabin he is as sweet as can be. Can't you tell he just hates this place?

I Love These Shoes

A couple of weekends ago while out shopping I came across an incredible deal at the Marshall's in Southcenter. I found a pair of Keen Brigg's shoes in Carnelian/Wetsand for $29.99 (most places carry these for $89.99). And OMG they are the most comfortable shoes ever. A couple people have made fun of them because they are red, but I don't care, my feet LOVE THEM.

Anderson Island Labor Day Parade 2008

Every Labor Day since I met Chris we've spent on Anderson Island. And every year, on Saturday morning, we drag ourselves out of bed early and head to the "big corner" to watch the Labor Day Parade. Then afterward we check out the bake sale, cake walk, bbq, and silent auction. Oh, and of course the quilt/collectibles show in the church basement.

This year was no different.

I gave Chris control of the camera during the parade and the pictures that follow are his doing. Next year I think we're going to rig up a trailer behind Ben's truck with our kayaks on it so that we can ride in the parade as the Amsterdam Bay Yacht Club. And maybe Brandon and I will display our shot glass collections in the church basement. Now wouldn't that be a hoot!

Similar Yet Very Different

Brandon and I had similar ideas on what to bring with us to the Island this past weekend. We both visited the Liquor Store at the Ferry Dock for supplies. Yet, as you can see, one of us was a bit more optimistic. Brandon's purchase is on the left, mine on the right:
