I realize that I talk about The Paperboys a lot, but oh my gosh, they are just so awesome. Just to give you a little taste I'm including a video from their most recent album. Next Wednesday you can find them in Seattle's University Village as part of their Sounds of Summer. Check it out, you won't regret it!

34 Hottie Miles!
20 Yesterday and 14 Today! Oh boy, I'm sore and tired, but it is a good feeling. I actually got home from the walk, showered up, and went shopping. I walked around Westwood Village for about 4,000 steps. That is like adding 2 more miles to my walk! This past week I logged 144,418 steps. That is the equivalent of about 72 miles if you figure I log about 2,000 steps a mile. That is just plain crazy, plain crazy I say! Now Chris and I are getting ready to enjoy victory Turkey Burgers. And then I'm going to pass out.....

Another Record!
Today they tricked us. We were scheduled to do 18 miles and we ended up doing 20! My first day over 40,000 steps and now I'm on the couch - bottle of water in one hand, glass of wine in the other - and I'm waiting for my pizza to arrive. Tomorrow we're doing 15 miles, which probably means 18 or so. I hope my poor feet can handle it. They are pretty darn tired right now.
Side note to the walk. Have you ever walked across the Aurora bridge? The view is amazing but the buses come awfully close to you.

Yay, Weekend!
Friday, finally. I really need a couple of days away from the office. This weekend I'll be walking back to back long walks! 18 miles on Saturday and 15 on Sunday. Not much time for anything else really. Maybe some laundry and a couple of episodes of X-files with Chris.
Speaking of Chris, he is having a truckload of dirt delivered today to fill in the new flowerbeds in the back yard. I don't think I'll be rushing home too fast to help out.......I'm pretty sure I'm allergic to dirt.
In other news the Nordstrom Anniversary sale is currently in progress. I've been over there 3 times so far and I've managed to buy nothing. Although I am coveting a new pair of Keen sandals. Mine are trashed and stinky to boot. I wish it was my birthday and someone would buy them for me, but my birthday is still a whole month away.
Last night I talked to both of my nieces on the phone. It was quite a treat. I need to get down to Portland to see their new house. Maybe next weekend, if I can still walk.

Dream Sequence
Last night I had a strange dream. I remember being happy, being with my family, enjoying good times. And then, all of a sudden, I had a giant gaping wound in my side. I started yelling for Chris to take me to the hospital. We got in the car and started driving and driving and driving. We couldn't find an emergency room, or a clinic, or a hospital and my wound was getting bigger and bigger. All of a sudden all went dark and the sounds got dim.
I woke up a bit freaked out.

Man Hunt Rant
On Saturday I saw my life flash before my eyes not once, but twice. Chris and I were making our way to the Home Depot down on Delridge to get supplies for the new flower bed. We were almost there when a police car came out of no where and almost forced us into traffic. Then we noticed that they were everywhere, swarming about, apparently looking for something. We pulled into the Home Depot parking lot and to what we thought was safety. Nope! As we got out of our car another police car came barreling past us doing probably 45-50MPH through the parking lot. We both jumped back towards our car and watch the police car zoom in front of the store and then barrel down another parking aisle back towards the street. I just think that we're lucky we were on the lookout after the first one almost pushed us off the road or we might not have seen the second and walked absentmindedly into its path. We both watched in horror just hoping it wouldn't it anyone (luckily it didn't). I understand the need to catch the fugitive, but putting other lives in danger???? Oh, and I can't find anything anywhere about what was going on.
The end.
The end.

Skiing Mission Ridge
Found this video on You Tube today. This is the guy that taught me how to ski when I was 4 years old and then later in life taught me to be an instructor. He's got mad skillz.
When I was first learning to ski he would have me get all of my gear on and step into my skis and then he'd lift me up, turn me over and carry me around by my skis.
Oh the memories.

Go M's
According to my husband, who tells me this constantly, and I mean constantly, the Seattle Mariners are currently in a pennant race. Another perk of Chris's job is free tickets to events such as Mariners games, so on Monday we joined some other Pyramid Ale vendors in a suite at Safeco Park. M's won 4-2!

My Dogs Are Tired
In the past 2 days I've walked 27 Hottie Miles. About 64,000 steps. And boy are my legs tired. Not so tired that I can't get from here to there, but tired enough to make me want to sit on the couch the rest of the day and rub lotion on my feet. I have to say it is pretty impressive to go out with a group of about 30 men and women, some Breast Cancer Survivors, some who have lost loved ones to the battle, and some who are just out there to do something good, and watch them all complete a 15.5 mile walk and come into the finish with smiles on their faces despite the blisters on their feet. One woman, a 3 time survivor with incredibly painful looking blisters on her feet, who didn't think she'd be able to make it, was able to finish the walk and give all of us high fives. As cheesy as it may sound, my heart if filled with pride.

4 AM
Chris left the house this morning at 4 AM to go fishing. I'm known as the early riser in our family but when he asked me to go fishing with him, to try and catch a King Salmon, and leave the house at 4 AM I politely told him NO WAY. I enjoy fishing, but I'm not all crazy about it :)
Good luck House!

Sunburnt & Sore - Oh What a Feeling
We spent the weekend at Lake Chelan. We wanted to expose Roberta to the good life. We spent all day Saturday in the sun, camped out on the lake shore, kayaking, fishing, swimming, chatting, and drinking cold beverages. I must have lathered up with sunscreen about 7 times during the course of the day and I'm still a hilarious shade of red. Oh the joys of fair skin. In addition, Chris made me practice dumping my kayak and struggling to get back in it, just in case it ever happens out in the sound. Lets just say that in the battle of Courtney vs. Kayak - Kayak won 3-0. I managed to get it turned back over and hoist my lazy ass back into it, but I'm now covered in all kinds of crazy bruises. My mom said that if I happened to go to the emergency room they would probably arrest Chris on the spot for spousal abuse.

Ta Da! And Now, The Path.....
As you can see our next projects are the flower beds on either side of the path which we sort of started with the dirt from the path hole. Chris read that you lay down newspaper on the grass, wet it, and then pile the dirt on it. This way it keeps the grass from coming up through the flower bed. Now we need a retaining wall around the flower bed. I think I live at Home Depot.
My arms hurt.

A New Record
Yesterday I set a new record. For the first day in my training since I started tracking my progress on my spreadsheet I passed 30,000 steps (I actually hit 31,838!). The day started with a 13 mile Hottie Walk (26,000 steps) and ended with Chris and I finishing the path! I'll try and get some photos uploaded soon, but it looks AWESOME. Oh, and I'm WORN OUT.
The end.
The end.
